It’s that time of year when male bullfrogs are singing their nightly solos in the hopes of acquiring new admirers. I captured this image years ago in Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge in southern Indiana. Nikon D200 with Nikkor 600mm f/5.6 manual focus lens, ISO 100, f/11 at 1/125th of a second.
Once upon a time there was a bullfrog that began singing to attract a mate. His song was so beautiful, he drew the attention of major talent scouts and record producers. Today that bullfrog is popularly known by his stage name, Rod Stewart. And he sings in Las Vegas where his song attracts him many mates, mostly in the 65+ age bracket but still.

Great shot!
Very nice. They can oftentimes be hard to spot with all that duckweed! Bullfrogs are one of my favorite subjects to photograph.
He sure blends well.
I LOVE the colors in this shot!
No wonder they learned to sing and croak! How could a mate find them otherwise in all that gunk! Fun shot, great colors.
