Agile gibbons are known for their incredible speed and grace, using a form of movement called brachiation, where they swing hand-over-hand through the trees at speeds up to 35 mph. They are so acrobatic and well-adapted to their life in the trees that they rarely come down to the ground. This agile gibbon, however, was fairly well habituated to the crowds that come to view orangutans and he came down for a close encounter with my wide angle zoom lens.
