I’m not quite done with the jackrabbits just yet. Here’s another shot from last month’s shoot in the California desert. This guy was carefully considering me as I stared back at him, mimicking almost the same exact position on the ground. Nikon D800 with Nikkor 200-400mm lens (at 400mm) f/4 at 1/1250th of a second
I love your photography; it is so thoughtful and always captures a story untold. My last name is Cornejo and Conejo means rabbit in Spanish, so I have a special fondness for them.
Quite relaxed, but the ears give him away. Definitely ready to flee at a moments notice to evade predators from front and back. I think he already decided you were no threat, but he needed to be ready in case…….They’re amazing animals with those massive ears. Fab shot once again Sean!
So different from the Peter Cottontails we see here every day. They are sweet, but this guy looks cunning. I suspect they take a big leap, rather than a little-albeit it fast-bunny hop.
Hey Mom, they are quite large (not just the ears) and actually look like very small antelopes as they dash across the desert floor. I’ll post a shot soon where we see one running.

Thanks Christine. I appreciate it. And glad I did well by your namesake.
WoW! Both you and the jackrabbit are amazing beings on this planet!
Thanks Hope. It was nice to be completely alone out in the desert. Just me and the jackrabbit. And whatever other creatures were hidden nearby.
great pic.
One ear open one way and one ear open another way. Remarkable shot all around. Love the expression of the big rabbit.
Thanks Michael, he was somewhat relaxed but most definitely keeping an eye on me.

No doubt Lawrie, as I just posted on Michael’s comment above, he was okay with me being there, but certainly not about to take a nap any time soon.
Just trying to cool off—-So don’t get me too excited—I love you, Sean Crane.
