These small bats sleep inside rolled up leaves during the day. They have suction cup like discs at the base of their thumbs and on the soles of their feet that allow them to cling to smooth surfaces. This poor guy was a bit alarmed when he saw my macro lens pointed at him while he was trying to get a little rest. What a great shot!!! Love his little tiny teeth! You have such an amazing connection with the wildlife that you shoot & are able to capture such fantastic moments & expressions. I am sure it takes a ton of patience and planning, as well as some miracle moments, lol, but you are just such a magician with a camera!

Hi Mike, this one was taken on my recent trip to Costa Rica.
I love how clearly you can see the suction cup. It really is an incredible shot.
Great shot! It reminds me of the yellow frog inside the yellow flower. A Sean Crane classic.
Thanks Mike, yeah, that old yellow frog is still one of my favorites.
Yikes.

Thanks Amanda. Yes, being in the right place at the right time is half the battle — then being prepared to get the shot when something happens.
OMG this is the coolest Sean! Might be my favorite!!!
Startle me and I’ll—-To you my batish sinew show—-Darken not my door!
You are lucky he didn’t come after you!
Hitchcock should have done a movie called “Bats” instead of the “Birds” he did do.
