Bighorn Ram in Snow

Bighorn Ram, Yellowstone National Park, WyomingIt’s tough being a bighorn sheep in Yellowstone in the winter. Finding suitable grass for grazing can be quite a challenge with all the snowfall that the park gets. This ram was opportunistically feeding on whatever shrubbery he could find.

You captured the daily struggle bighorn sheep face in an amazingly beautiful setting, yet during winter’s bleakest conditions. I like the composition of this image, Sean!

Thanks Sue. I’m always trying to go wide to include the environment when possible. And in Yellowstone, it’s almost always possible.

Makes me feel sad I did not get out west this winter.

This is beautiful. While close-up wildlife photography is also beautiful, there is something so special about showing more of the landscape. It tells a completely different story. And this is why I’ve been following your photography for the past several years.

Thanks Rachel. As I mentioned above, my favorite locations are those that allow me to include the environment. Yellowstone is one of the best.
